The web design process

The web design process

Every customer is different, and that requires an approach that is tailored to that customer, but overall things naturally match. I usually start with a questionnaire from which a number of things must become clear:
  • What is the purpose of your website?
  • Who is your target group?
  • Which product or service do you offer?
  • Do you want to mention prices or not on your website?
  • Do you already have a house style that needs to be applied? If not, which colors should be used?
  • What functionalities should your website have? What do you want to be able to do with your website?
  • Which pages will be added to the website?
These are just a few examples of questions that must be answered before we can start building the website. I also do research in this phase and see what your competitors are doing. I analyze what works for them and what doesn't work so that your website naturally does this better. By knowing what the competition is doing, you also know what you have to do to stand out.
Then I will make a plan for the layout. In this phase, we usually, make sketches and wireframes (simply put these are digital sketches). Here the structure of the website becomes clear and how the distribution of all elements is going to be. Then you deliver all text and images and I will build the website in WordPress. This is followed by a number of feedback rounds in which some adjustments are made to the website. Only when you are 100% satisfied with the website will it be launched. With our web design packages, you always get 1 - 3 months (depending on the chosen package) free support and maintenance after launching your website.

What does it take the most time to build a website?

There are a number of things in the web design process that can cause it to be delayed. What sometimes results in a delay is when the customer does not yet have text and images ready. Sometimes you hire a photographer and/or copywriter. Then, of course, you also depend on the planning of these people. So if you want to speed up the process, my tip is to make sure that you already have text and images, so that we can get started right away. Not sure what kind of photos you want on the website? Of course, I can help and advise you on this! Even if you are not yet completely clear what your target group is and what the purpose of your website is, this slows down. If you do not yet know exactly what you want to achieve with the website and who you want to reach, then creating a website becomes difficult. So make sure you have this clear for yourself. Also, think carefully about what you want on your website. For example, do you want a blog? Maybe you want to sell an e-book or something like that? Which pages will be on your website? These are important things that you need to think carefully about. The number of pages logically also determines how long it takes before you have a website online. Of course, a small website of 1 page or a piece or 5 pages is a lot quicker to finish than an e-commerce website or multilingual website where each page also has to be translated into 1 or more languages. The larger the website, the more time it takes.

How long does it take to have a website made?

On average, it takes me 2 months to build a website, but this is highly dependent on what the customer wants. A small website with a limited number of pages takes much less time than a multilingual website with 10+ pages. Fortunately, you can do a lot yourself to make the process run as quickly as possible. The most important tip I can give every entrepreneur: be well prepared. Make sure you have a number of things clear and make sure you have texts and photos ready. That way, you will have a beautiful website online in no time!
